How Clear Path Works

Expert psychiatric care by secure video from anywhere in California.

Psychiatric care at Clear Path is delivered through secure video appointments, which means you can be seen by a California-licensed psychiatrist, psychiatric physician assistant or nurse practitioner from anywhere in the state, without travel, time off work, or a wait for a local appointment.

What to expect

  1. Book your appointment. Choose a time that works for you and complete your intake beforehand, so your first appointment is spent on clinical care rather than paperwork.
  2. Your first visit. A comprehensive psychiatric evaluation covering your history, current symptoms, previous responses to medication, and any physical health conditions affecting treatment choices.
  3. Your treatment plan. Following the evaluation your provider builds a plan around your diagnosis and goals, combining medication management with a referral for therapy where that is appropriate.
  4. Ongoing follow-up. Regular scheduled visits track your progress, with adjustments made as needed. Every visit is a live video appointment with a Clear Path provider.

Appointments take place on a HIPAA-compliant video platform you can join from any device.

Why care by video works

Care delivered by video removes the practical obstacles that stop people starting treatment or staying in it: travel, rigid scheduling, and time away from work. Those obstacles matter clinically, because psychiatric treatment depends on consistency. Starting sooner and attending reliably is what produces results.

For people with demanding schedules, limited transport, or a preference for the privacy of their own home, this makes it realistic to stay with treatment long enough for it to work.

  • Bipolar disorder — regular check-ins supporting mood stability and ongoing medication management.
  • ADHD — scheduled reviews of attention, focus and treatment response that fit around work and study.

Common questions

What do I need for a video appointment?

A device with a camera and microphone, a reliable internet connection, and somewhere private enough to have a clinical conversation. Appointments run on a HIPAA-compliant video platform you can join from a phone, tablet or computer.

Do I need to be in California during my appointment?

Yes. Our providers are licensed in California, so you need to be physically located in the state at the time of your appointment.

How quickly can I start treatment?

Availability varies with demand and with the provider you are matched to. You will see the earliest available times when you book, and completing your intake beforehand means the first appointment is spent on clinical care.

What happens if the technology fails during my appointment?

Your provider will contact you to continue by phone or to reschedule at no charge. Connection problems do not count against your appointment.

Can I get a prescription at my first appointment?

Prescribing decisions are made by your provider based on a clinical evaluation, and depend on your diagnosis and history. Some medications, including controlled substances, may not be appropriate for treatment by video.
